Industrial Floor Coating Applied to a Print Workshop, South London
Installing a trafficable hard-wearing floor coating to an industrial workshop floor in South London using Newton Floorgum Paint. Installed by a Newton Specialist Basement Contractor (NSBC)
Industrial Floor Coating
The remit was to provide a hard-wearing floor coating to the existing surface of an industrial floor in a print workshop. As the flooring area was an integral part of the operating business, the floor needed to be prepared, repaired and treated over a weekend for use the next week.
The most effective method of removing the existing floor paint in preparation for applying a new floor coating was ideally by grit/sand blasting, but this would have created a lot of dust to achieve and would have extended the working time of the project beyond the 48 hours available – so an alternative option was recommended using Newton Floorgum Paint.
The floor was made good and vacuum sanded to enable application of the Floorgum Paint. The product is water-based and acts as a non-slip multipurpose coating. It is applied in two coats – the application of the first coat was applied with a shorthaired roller and once it had cured overnight the second coat was applied with a squeegee to create a smooth and seamless finish.
Newton Floorgum Paint provided the client with a hard-wearing and non-slip coating to their industrial floor within 48 hours with no halt to production.
- Floorgum Paint is comprised of water-based resins meaning it has no solvent components so it is safer for operatives to install
- It is a single component product which is ready to use out of the drum unlike other two-part component products and is UV-resistant
- Floorgum Paint can be used as a finish above Newton Acriflex Winter primary waterproofing membrane on such projects as podium decks and flat roofs.
- Floorgum Paint is also suitable for playing surfaces, cycling paths, pedestrian areas, and is resistant to weather occurrences and UV-rays.
