Failed Tanking London – Newton Waterproofing the Solution
This new build Russian Orthodox Church was two years old when the tanking failed. Newton Waterproofing Systems provided a solution to rectify the damp problems.
Failed Tanking London
This prestigious new-build project constructed in reinforced concrete was only two years old when the original “tanking” failed.
The failure resulted in large areas of standing water to the lower ground floor. Extensive damage occurred to internal fixture and fittings rendering the property unfit for use.
Newton Specialist Basement Contractor (NSBC), Advanced Preservation was called into to design and install a robust waterproofing solution. Newton 508 Mesh membrane was installed in the convoluted areas of the church with Newton 508 applied to the other wall areas. Newton Basedrain was cited at the wall floor junction of all retaining walls to capture and divert ingression of water to Newton Titan Pumping System.
The floor areas were protected with Newton 520 as a lost drainage layer as the integrity of the RC slab was in question. Insulation was then deployed on the 520 with Newton 601 Slimline installed above as an effective damp proof membrane. A 65mm screed and floating floor was then chosen as the final floor finish to the project. A combination of direct plaster to the 508 Mesh and independent dry-lining was used as a finish with plasterboard and skim.
Due to the nature of the Newton System, minimal surface work was required and the project was completed within a four week period with the security of an insured back guarantee provided by the Newton Specialist Basement Contractor (NSBC).
