Newton’s Financial Director David Hall undertook a punishing training regime of months of cycling, running and swimming to prepare for the Half Ironman Switzerland. Included in his training regime were some decidedly chilly early morning swims in the Serpentine before work to prepare himself for the temperature of the Swiss lake!
69 Miles Of Swimming, Cycling and Running
The Ironman is a long distance triathlon consisting of 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 12 mile run. The bike course is particularly challenging with some steep inclines (in total 950 metres) David completed the course in a fantastic time and everybody at Newtons is in admiration of his incredible achievement
“I wanted to do the half Ironman, (dubbed the Cottonman by some of my friends!) for purely selfish reasons. I have wanted to raise some money for a charity for a while and raising money for a cancer charity was an obvious choice for me. Just after I was born my grandma, on my mothers side, died of cancer and within a few months my Mum was diagnosed with lung cancer. Luckily she pulled through and now, 32 years later, puts me to shame in the fitness stakes.” – David Hall
