While most of us are still getting back into the swing of things after an enjoyable, if indulgent, Christmas and New Year break, good news is already on the way in 2016, with confirmation that another two of Newton’s excellent Technical team have achieved the coveted CSSW, or Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing accreditation, enabled by the Property Care Association.
Newton Technical Advisors Aimee-Jayne Goodes – a qualified Architectural Assistant who has spent 4 years with Newton – and Billy Shinners – who has 5 years of experience in the waterproofing industry, 2 of which have been with Newton – both took the requisite 3-day training course and examinations over a period of several months in 2015, receiving the good news that they had passed just in time for Christmas.
“I am very pleased to achieve this CSSW accreditation,
as being nationally recognised like this is a great achievement for my career, as well as something that will hopefully be a great benefit for Newton too.” – Billy Shinners
The CSSW is a nationally recognised qualification for individuals who are not only involved in diagnosing problems with water entering structures below ground, but who are also recommending design solutions. As such, the intensive course provides candidates with a comprehensive understanding of all forms of waterproofing in both new-build and existing structures, reflecting the guidance and standards laid out in BS 8102:2009 – Code of Practice for the Protection of Below-Ground Structures Against Water from the Ground.
“Our PCA instructor Michael Earle provided an excellent three day structural waterproofing course that gave an in depth look at all aspects of waterproofing. Personally, achieving the CSSW qualification reaffirms my level of experience and knowledge after 4 years in the industry.” – Aimee-Jayne Goodes
Aimee and Billy, already valuable members of the Newton family, now form an even more critical part of a Technical team that, between them, possess 6 CSSW qualifications, 2 CSRT (Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatments) qualifications, 1 Waterproofing Design Specialist – the top accreditation offered by the PCA – and over 100 years of experience in the waterproofing industry.
