The UK waterproofing suppliers’ expert Technical team is further bolstered by its new ‘Waterproofing Design Specialist’
In its continuous mission to improve the quality of technical support for its customers, as well as the level of waterproofing expertise within the company, Newton Waterproofing Systems is delighted to confirm the accreditation of its Senior Technical Manager Richard Crossley as a recognised UK Waterproofing Design Specialist. The new credential sits alongside Richard’s existing qualification as a Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing, further reinforcing his comprehensive knowledge of waterproofing, acquired over the course of 15 years in the industry.
The Property Care Association and BS 8102:2009
Provided by the Property Care Association as just one element in its aim to “promote high standards of professionalism and expertise”, the accreditation recognises the crucial recommendation by the British Standard 8102:2009 ‘Code of Practice for Protection of Below Ground Structures Against Water from the Ground’ that every design team must incorporate a Waterproofing Design Specialist. Furthermore, as a result of its thorough application process, the PCA also ensures that all accredited individuals are identified and trusted to have the appropriate skills and knowledge to fulfil a design role of such responsibility.
100 Years of Industry Knowledge
Despite his success, Richard was keen to demonstrate the overall strength of Newton’s Technical expertise: “I was absolutely delighted when I received confirmation of the successful application – the process to become a Waterproofing Design Specialist was no mean feat. The coverage for the rest of Newton’s Technical team is also fantastic though. We’ve already got over 100 years of experience in the industry between us, and the knowledge gained in that time is invaluable for assisting customers with enquiries, and for educating new talent as we look to continue growing and expanding the company.”
In order to be able to name himself as one of the few UK professionals to successfully achieve the certification, alongside an interview, Richard was required to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all aspects of BS 8102:2009, building construction and waterproofing techniques, diagnostic investigation and problem solving, report writing, diagram drawing and details, specification details, and the products and techniques commonly used in waterproofing. As a result, Richard will now be endeavouring to use his new accreditation to its full potential, by assisting customers design team leaders to create effective integrated structural waterproofing solutions.
