Waterproofing The ‘Hotel Football’
The “Hotel Football” is an innovative hotel concept on the doorstep of Old Trafford football stadium. The 138-bed Hotel Football will feature a five-a-side pitch on the roof and house a supporters’ club with the 10-storey building having capacity for around 1,500 fans on match days.
Waterproofing provision was a very important factor when designing the hotel, and a Newton Specialist Basement Contractor (NSBC) was appointed at the design stage. NSBC Trace Basements were commissioned to design and install a waterproofing solution throughout the new structure. Newton System 500 Cavity Drain Waterproofing products were installed internally to deal with any water ingress and Newton System 100 Cementitious Products were used externally across construction joints and pipe penetrations.

Newton 101F is a two-component acrylic modified cementitious coating. It is the ideal product to waterproof and re-surface concrete and masonry. 101F is very user friendly with simple on-site mixing methods. Newton 101F creates an effective barrier to waterborne salts and atmospheric gases, and provides a hardwearing, seamless, waterproof membrane for roofs and concrete protection.

Condensation Damp Treatment
Newton Cold Wall Coating (CWC) is ideal for treating walls affected by condensation and mould.
CWC contains mineral powders which have specific insulating features. When applied to the wall, this increases the surface temperature by +5 degrees centigrade. In most cases this will bring the surface temperature above dew-point thus eliminating the possibility of condensation and mould forming. It is easy to apply with a paintbrush or roller. It is white, but can be over-painted or tinted with standard paints.
- Coat for cold surfaces affected by condensation and mould
- Can be applied to pillars, reinforced cement walls and non-insulated walls
- To prevent thermal bridges

- Slightly wet the surface before applying the product
- Apply a first coat by roller, brush or spray to completely cover the surface with a very thin layer
- Once the first coat is dry, apply a second one
- With severe mould and thermal bridges, apply a third coat
