Newton 314-BP Bentonite Powder is a naturally occurring sodium bentonite powder used for detailing to the Newton HydroBondTM System, specifically where Newton 403 HydroBond terminates to otherwise difficult to detail building elements, such as piled walls, support piles, pile caps, and protrusions through the membrane.
Hydrophilic – swells to 15 times its initial size when contacted by water
High resistance to water pressure
Easily applied by hand
Cost is much less than modern polymer type products
Naturally occurring product
Persistently elastic – no embrittlement
Can be installed in almost any weather condition
Has a proven track record of effectiveness on both new and remedial waterproofing projects worldwide over many years
The sodium bentonite in Newton 314-BP can absorb many times its mass in water. The property of swelling on contact with water makes sodium bentonite useful as a sealant, since it provides a self-sealing, low permeability barrier. When in contact with water, 314-BP swells up to 15 times its initial size to form a dense, water impermeable paste. When confined, the swell is controlled, forming a dense waterproofing component that fully seals these otherwise difficult to detail joints against water ingress.
Newton 314-BP can be mixed with clean fresh water to seal parts of Type A and B waterproofing systems where a reinforced concrete construction is used
Sealing of pipes, sleeves, columns and posts that penetrate the Newton HydroBond System
Between the horizontal and vertical application of Newton 403 HydroBond to irregularly shaped interfaces such as piled walls
Can be poured into an inverted fillet formed within the blinding as a termination detail where horizontal 403 HydroBond terminates at elements that are not to be further waterproofed
Sealing cored holes within Type B construction in conjunction with suitable Newton repair mortars to confine the product
