Following Newton’s fantastic ‘Business of the Year 2019’ award win at the Kent Chamber Business Awards last week, Newton have been shortlisted for both the ‘Green/Sustainability Award’ and ‘Innovation of the Year’ by the National Building Awards 2019.

Last week, our team spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Kent Chamber Business Awards and picked up the top award of the night, ‘Business of the Year 2019’. As the first award win for Newton in 2019, we are very pleased to receive recognition for the hard work, expertise and innovation that goes into developing our waterproofing and damp proofing solutions.

Newton Shortlisted

Now with one awesome award under our belt for 2019, Newton are looking forward to upcoming awards, including the Construction News Awards on 11th July. Newton Waterproofing are shortlisted in the ‘Best Innovation’ category for the Newton Membrane Recycling Service, which is the first and only closed-loop recycling scheme in the UK waterproofing industry.

NBA

Excitingly, Newton has now been shortlisted for two awards at the reputable National Building Awards 2019 for the ‘Green/Sustainability Award’ and ‘Innovation of the Year’, both of which are also in recognition of our Membrane Recycling Service and sustainability initiatives. The National Building Awards offer a prestigious platform to raise the profile of industrious, hardworking and enterprising building and construction businesses, and are being held on Wednesday 22nd May at Wembley Stadium

Reducing Our Environmental Impact

To be considered for both National Building Awards, Newton needed to provide evidence of how our innovative Membrane Recycling Service is new, different and making a positive difference. As well as how the service, along with our other sustainability initiatives, work to reduce the impact on the environment.

Working in partnership with our Newton Specialist Basement Contractors, Newton Waterproofing offers a closed-loop recycling scheme, the Newton Membrane Recycling Service. The service collects and shreds waste membrane and then sends it to be turned into new construction projects. Newton also offer high performance membranes made from recycled HDPE; Newton 508 eco Floor and Newton 520 eco. These products are the first two cavity drain membranes in the UK to be manufactured from 100% recycled material with full BBA certification.

In-House Sustainability Initiatives

Newton Waterproofing have committed to reducing our product plastic packaging by 50% over the next 3 years. All our office and warehouse packaging waste is collected before being sent off to be separated and recycled, and these company-wide initiatives have increased the awareness of our employees, who are all now more conscious of their environmental impact and actively looking for ways to reduce it. This includes recycling paper, plastic, cardboard and crisp packets, as well as reducing the amount we print and, in some cases even purchasing hybrid cars.
