Patented Ground Gas Protection

Prestige Air Technology have been at the forefront of providing ground gas protection systems in the UK since 1994. Newton Waterproofing Systems and Prestige Air are proud to hold the patent for the unique PAC-500 ‘positive air curtain’ method for safely combining both waterproofing and gas mitigation systems in below-ground scenarios.

The patented system combines the Newton System 500 Cavity Drain waterproofing system, installed by our Newton Specialist Basement Contractor Network, with a positive pressure air delivery system, installed by Prestige Air Technology.

The system complies with British Standard 8485, the Code of Practice for the design of protective measures for methane and carbon dioxide ground gases for new buildings, and is characterised as providing very good ventilation.

Furthermore, as well as protecting against radon gas, methane gas, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons and petrol and diesel contaminated soils, the system can also enable a structure to achieve a Grade 3 ‘completely dry’ environment, in line with British Standard 8102:2022, the Code of Practice for protection of below ground structures against water from the ground.
