Newton Waterproofing Systems, the UK’s leading independent supplier of structural waterproofing systems has showcased its drive for sustainable construction by becoming a member of the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC), a charity with over 400 member organisations that is focused on radically improving the sustainability of the built environment.
Launched in 2007, the UKGBC represents the voice of the construction and property industry’s current and future leaders, who are all striving for transformational change within the sector.
Members of the UKGBC share skills and knowledge to create sustainable change, with the aim of maximising the impact of their organisations at the forefront of sustainability in construction.
Newton Waterproofing are committed to reducing the company’s negative impact on the environment and with the introduction of the Membrane Recycling Service in 2017, Newton have succeeded in preventing over 15 tonnes of plastic from going to landfill over the last three years.
Further to this, Newton Waterproofing have been partnered with a national marine conservation and campaigning charity, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), since 2019. All profits made from the recycling service are donated to SAS to help them tackle plastic pollution and protect our oceans, rivers, and beaches, as well as the wildlife that live there.
The UKGBC is the perfect organisation for Newton, as we continue to expand our sustainability initiatives, get involved in shaping best practice in the industry and become part of a unified voice of leaders to influence a meaningful transformation to the built environment.
“Newton Waterproofing are pleased to have become a member of the UK Green Building Council and are excited to be able to share our values with like-minded organisations. We look forward to working with UKGBC to help them pursue their aim of implementing real change to the sustainability of the construction sector.” Warren Muschialli, Managing Director, Newton Waterproofing Systems.
